Guide to viewing an exported chat and saving it as PDF

Chats exported from messaging apps often arrive as long TXT files. Reading, searching, or archiving thousands of messages in raw text is inconvenient.

How to use it

Export the chat as TXT or another supported package.
Open the export in Toolardo.
Review participant and display settings.
Use search, analysis, or PDF/other export options.

Chat exports may contain personal data. Check names, phone numbers, and sensitive content before sharing, and only process conversations you are authorized to handle.

How it works

1In WhatsApp, open the chat and choose More/⋮ → Export chat.
2Open the resulting .txt file here, or the .zip export if you also want included media.
3Choose yourself in “Right-side person (Me)”, then view or analyze the chat, use Ctrl+F to find a message, or export PDF/HTML/CSV/JSON/TXT.

Frequently asked questions

How do I search for a message?

Use your browser’s built-in Find command: Ctrl+F on Windows/Linux or ⌘F on macOS. The viewer renders the filtered conversation so browser Find can locate its text.

Why are messages shown on the left and right?

The participant selected as “Right-side person (Me)” is placed on the right; everyone else is placed on the left. WhatsApp export files do not identify which participant is you.

Does the PDF keep the chat-bubble layout?

Yes. Save as PDF / Print opens the browser print view with the same left/right bubble layout; choose Save as PDF as the destination.

What file do I use here?

Use WhatsApp’s Export chat feature. It creates a .txt chat file, or a .zip when media is included.

Is my chat uploaded to Toolardo?

No. The chat file and message contents are processed locally in your browser.
